To contribute to improved livelihoods of farming communities in East Africa by engaging in Market-oriented agriculture

Project Description  

ERI is a continuation of the efforts to improve agricultural development in East Africa by promoting farmer driven innovation processes it promotes application of the same methodology with a common ground for effectively sharing and exchanging experience among the farmers, across organisations and countries and helping farmers to build up profitable enterprises.

ERI is a participatory approach that focuses on farmers as center of development processes. ERI continues to empower farmers to develop entrepreneurial capacities in order to transition from subsistence to market – oriented agriculture.

ERI Joint Activities address problems of: Fragmented farmer organizations, Dynamic and fluctuating markets, Poor natural resource management as well as insufficient field extension workforce.

Expected Results

  1. 368 Farmer groups are strengthened and are operational
  2. 276 Farmer groups increased food production and are engaged in profitable enterprises
  3. 7,360 Farmers apply natural resource management practices to sustain a productive natural resource base
  4. Five Organizations and  30 CDFs’ capacity strengthened to apply ERI approach.
