The mission is to capacitate the Community to fight against poverty through facilitation of socio-economic programmes in a sustainable way. Clean drinking water, improved health services and education as well as sustainable agriculture and the facilitation and monitoring of rural microfinance institutions are the main working areas of the organization. Agriculture forms the main income for more of 95 % of the population in Kagera Region. A majority of those small holder farmers grow coffee as their main cash crop. While the current market mechanism keeps farmers from realizing the full potential of the crop, KADERES is making strides to promote Organic/Fair Trade certifications among the farmers for reaching fair prices. Through its marketing subsidiary firm, KPD PLC (KADERES Peasants Development Public Limited Company) the coffee is directly exported to international markets. Besides the cash crop coffee also stable foods like beans, maize and bananas are important to farmers and KADERES.
